ELAD Transitional Housing Program (THP):

 A Transitional Housing Program gives young adults who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability a safe place to live while they build the skills, stability, and support network needed to thrive on their own.

It’s not just housing — it’s housing plus mentorship, life skills, education and career support, and a community 

that believes in you. Think of it as a structured bridge between crisis and independence.

We all feel a pang when we hear about the tough times children face in foster care, but there's a moment that often gets lost in the conversation, yet it is incredibly daunting for these young souls: the day they "age out" of the system, often at 18. Imagine being told you are an adult, legally, but having no home, no steady meals, and no real roadmap for building a decent, let alone successful, life. It is a cli edge, and every year, thousands of young people across America face it, disconnected from the very families and crucial resources they need to thrive.

The reality is heartbreakingly clear, and the numbers echo the urgency of their situation:
• Fewer than 3% of youth who age out of foster care will earn a college degree at any point in their lives, 

a stark contrast to their peers.

• A staggering 50% will battle substance dependence.
• Roughly 25% suffer from PTSD, carrying the weight of past traumas.
• Sadly, 70% of young women will experience pregnancy before age 21, often without a support system.
• And tragically, 60% of young men face conviction for a crime before their 19th birthday.
• Within two years of aging out, nearly 50% experience homelessness, enduring a devastating loss of stability and security.
• They are also far more likely to face unemployment, with studies showing
significantly lower employment rates compared to other young adults.

But here is where ELAD steps in with open arms and unwavering belief. We are
wholeheartedly dedicated to serving our transitional age youth (TAY) from 18 to 24. We are here to offer a lifeline to these incredible young individuals who are aging out of the system, leaving juvenile detention, or finding themselves with nowhere else to turn. We call it A.O.G. Access, Opportunity, and Guidance – because every young person deserves a chance to dream 

and to build a life full of promise.

We truly believe that Access opens doors, Opportunity lights the path,
and Guidance helps navigate the journey, maximizing potential and minimizing the bumps along the way. That is why ELAD is so thrilled to be opening our very first Transitional Housing Program (THP) right here in Orange County, CA! Within its walls, we are not just providing a roof over their heads; we are nurturing their growth, teaching essential life skills, and most importantly, guiding them through the opportunities that will shape their futures.

We will walk alongside them as they develop these opportunities for themselves, supporting them through our two-phase program that leads directly to sustainable, joyful independence. This is not just a service for our resilient young people; it is a profound gift to our entire society. Our programs have a proven track record of helping young individuals flourish into contributing, vibrant members of our communities, turning potential challenges into incredible triumphs.
